Approximately 2 million Romanians will cross the threshold of dental clinics during December to undergo various dental treatments, according to data from LIFE Dental Spa and VIVO Dental, dental clinic chains specialized in high-precision laser dental treatments, part of the LIFE Group medical services network.
At the end of November, the number of appointments for December was already 20% higher than in a typical month, and this was largely due to the arrival of relatives who had gone abroad, bonuses received by employees in the last month of the year or plans to pay more attention to the quality of life of everyone.
„In the first 11 months of this year, the LIFE Group network, which includes 16 clinics under the LIFE Dental Spa and VIVO Dental brands, averaged around 3,000 patients per month. December's appointments and visits do not show an overall increase, given the large number of days off. However, if we look at the number of appointments per day worked by the doctor, we see an increase of about 20% compared to a typical month. This reflects the increased interest of patients to have their dental problems solved before the holidays,” Stefan Obreja, CEO of LIFE Group stated.
Data show that there are over 7,800 dental practices and approximately 9,500 dentists in Romania. LIFE Group also estimates that the threshold of dental clinics will be crossed in December, on average, by about 250 patients per dental unit out of the 7,800 dental clinics across the country, resulting in a total of about two million patients.
Over 250,000 Romanians from the Diaspora Cross the Threshold of a Dental Clinic in Romania in December. Prices are up to 80% More Affordable than in the West
A significant increase this year in the number of patients is observed from Romanians coming to the country during the month of December, where over 250,000 Romanians are expected both for the holiday period and spending time with family and friends, as well as for the voting period - Presidential and Parliamentary Elections.
The majority of patients from the diaspora who come to LIFE Group clinics come primarily for scaling and routine check-ups, wanting to maintain their oral health at high standards. There is also a significant demand for complex treatments such as Dinti Ficsi solutions, periodontosis treatments and caries treatment.
„A growing trend is the interest in invisible braces because of the comfort and esthetics they offer. Patients in the diaspora particularly appreciate the modern, high-tech approach they find in our clinics, where prices are much more affordable than in Western dental clinics,” Stefan Obreja added.
Comparing the costs of dental treatments in Romania, as exemplified by the prices in LIFE Dental Spa clinics, with those in Western Europe, shows significant differences:
1. Treatment of a cavity
Romania: Laser treatment of a cavity starts from RON 297 RON;
Western Europe: Prices can vary between €100 to €300, depending on the country and clinic chosen.
2. Dental hygiene
Romania: The classic hygiene package (professional scaling and brushing) is about RON 247; (price offers may appear)
Western Europe: Prices for similar procedures can vary between €80 to €150, depending on location and dental clinic.
3. Dental implants
Romania: A Bredent dental implant costs about RON 1,997 (LIFE Group);
Western Europe: Prices for a single dental implant start at around €1,000 and can increase significantly, depending on the complexity of the case and the materials used.
4. Treatment of gingivitis
Romania: In LIFE Dental Spa clinics gingivitis treatment starts from RON 1,997 (the prices may vary depending on the complexity of the treatment);
Western Europe: Prices for treating gingivitis range from around €1,500-2,000.
„These price differences make Romania an attractive destination for patients seeking quality dental treatment at more affordable costs. We encourage Romanian patients to choose dental treatments in Romania because of lower costs, modern technologies and direct communication with doctors. Services in Romania are provided to international standards, without language barriers or additional travel costs, offering a quality experience close to home,” Stefan Obreja, CEO of LIFE Group concluded.
RON 1,000 / patient, the average cost of treatment
The average value of a treatment per patient during this period amounted to about 1,000 lei, taking into account all patients, not only those in the diaspora. Compared to previous months, there is no significant increase in the average value, but the interest of diaspora patients remains high for complex treatments, which contributes to keeping this level constant.
Thousands of patients from Spain, Italy, Germany, the UK, including the USA, visit LIFE Group's clinics every year during the holiday season.
