Survey: Romanians prosumers discouraged by prices of battery storage systems

Business Forum
While there's significant interest in battery storage systems among Romanian prosumers, cost remains a major obstacle, according to research, conducted for the platform despre-energie.ro, a project backed by E.ON and Delgaz Grid.

The study further indicates that 82% of respondents would be interested in or would consider purchasing a battery energy storage system.

However, it also highlighted that price is the main deterrent for 72% of those surveyed. Other concerns included the space required for installation (6%) and a perceived lack of utility (2%).

The survey also explored awareness and motivations surrounding battery storage. It found that 47% of respondents had limited knowledge or no knowledge about the benefits of these systems. When asked about their main motivation for investing in battery storage, 43% cited reducing energy bills, 36% mentioned energy independence, and 19% highlighted security during power outages.

In a separate finding, the study revealed that 57% of Romanians living in flats believe that installing PV panels on the building's roof would be beneficial for residents.

The survey was carried out between February 19-25, with a sample of 1,116 online users.
