Eurowind gets permits for its first hybrid wind-solar park in Romania

Business Forum
Eurowind Energy Romania has received construction permits for the Siminoc project, the company's first hybrid wind-solar park in Constanța County.

The project represents an estimated investment of €65 million and benefits from the Contracts for Difference (CfD) scheme, providing long-term investment stability.

The Siminoc project will have a total installed capacity of 49.6 MW, evenly split between wind and photovoltaics at 24.8 MW each. Based on current technical modelling, annual output is estimated at 120 GWh, equivalent to the yearly consumption of over 50,000 households.

The implementation schedule foresees the construction permit in H1 2026, start of works in 2027, and commissioning in 2028. The selection of turbine models and PV panels, as well as the final configuration of any battery storage equipment, will be decided as the project advances into the procurement phase.

"We no longer look at projects merely as generation assets, but as resources that provide real flexibility to the energy system," said Adrian Dobre, Country Manager at Eurowind Energy Romania. "Our local ambition is to reach 1GW by 2030 with a sustainable investment plan of around €1 billion in the next 4 years."

Active on the local market since 2011, Eurowind Energy Romania develops and operates renewable energy projects with a dedicated local team. The company's portfolio includes four operational solar parks and a development pipeline of 7.5 GW at various stages. By the end of Q2 2026, the company will reach 184 MW of operational capacity in Romania, including 60MW from battery storage.
