BT Financial Group reports consolidated net profit of RON 4.7 billion in 2024

Banca Transilvania Group grew in 2024 both through acquisitions and organically, helping to support the Romanian economy. At the same time, Banca Transilvania is the main financier of the economy, the population and the State, including through the payment of total taxes and social security contributions of over RON 1.7 billion.

The taxes paid by Banca Transilvania Group in Romania amount to about 1% of the total tax revenues collected by the state. The corporate income tax paid to the state budget by the bank and BT Group's Romanian subsidiaries amounted in 2024 to almost 2% of the total corporate income tax collected to the state budget from companies in our country.

We also increased BT Group's scale through several acquisitions and integrations in banking and complementary areas such as leasing, pensions and asset management. BT Financial Group's assets reached RON 207 billion at the end of last year, +22.4% compared to December 31, 2023. The contribution of the integration of OTP Bank Romania to the increase in assets amounted to approximately 9.6 percentage points.

BT Financial Group's consolidated net profit amounted to RON 4.7 billion, of which the bank's net profit amounted to RON 3.5 billion. Subsidiaries and equity holdings contributed about RON 384.6 million to BT Group's profitability. Gain on acquisitions contributed RON 815.7 million to BT Group's net profit. For the five months to December 31, 2024, the companies acquired from the OTP Group contributed a profit of RON 58.1 million to the Banca Transilvania Group's results.

The bank's operating profit increased to RON 4.5 billion, +28.3% y-o-y in 2023, on the back of the bank's increased operational activity. BT's operational efficiency, as reflected by the cost/income ratio, improved and reached 45.4% thanks to good cost management and the streamlining of the activity through the digitalization of processes.

Net loans and receivables from financial leasing at BT Group level increased by 27.5% to RON 96.4 billion and customer deposits reached RON 167.8 billion, +21.6% compared to the end of 2023.

Performance of business lines in 2024:

  • Over 66,000 companies and 530,000 individuals chose to work with Banca Transilvania. BT reached almost 4.6 million customers at the end of last year, of which 4.1 million are retail and more than 480,000 are corporate.
  • The bank financed companies with RON 26.6 billion and individuals with RON 8.8 billion. New amounts lent to Micro and SME customers are 2 billion lei higher compared to 2023. The bank was a partner in the state-guaranteed programs IMM Invest Plus and Creditul Fermierului, with financing of more than RON 3.5 billion.
  • Over 300,000 loans were granted by the bank, +9.4% in 2024 compared to 2023. Of these, 135,000 are consumer loans.
  • The bank-wide gross loan balance is +13.5%, of which a significant increase of 17.5% is the balance of loans to companies. The volume of loans to the general population is up 7.9%.
  • More than 15,000 people bought their houses with the help of BT, the amount granted is about RON 4.5 billion. The balance of mortgage/mortgage loans is RON 19.3 billion, +3.2% compared to December 2023, representing 22% of the loan portfolio.
  • The number of cards reached 7 million, including BT cards issued to OTP Bank Romania customers, and card transactions increased by 23% compared to 2023.
  • The number of phone payments is +36% and the volume of BT Pay transfers +54% compared to 2023.
    The EBA ratio is 2.07% at December 31, 2024, and the total provision coverage of non-performing exposures is 206%. In December 2024, ROE reached 27.0% on an individual basis, exceeding the banking system average of 18.4%. BT's solvency ratio, incorporating interim net income for the first half of 2024 into equity, is 23.54%.

The Banca Transilvania Group's position in markets complementary to banking in 2024: leadership by volumes traded on the BVB and in asset management, consolidation of its position in the retail auto, NFI and pension fund financing markets, and the best year in microfinance:

  • BT Leasing merged in December 2024 with OTP Leasing, after an integration that took place over just four months. The company reached 42,000 customers, over 63,000 contracts and total assets of over RON 6.1 billion.
  • BT Capital Partners, the BT Group's brokerage company, became the leader on the Bucharest Stock Exchange in terms of volumes traded, with a market share of 26.7%. BTCP intermediated two share issues on the Main Market of the BVB and a series of bond issues on foreign markets and on the BVB.
  • BT Asset Management maintained its leading position and exceeded RON 6 billion in assets under management. More than half of new investors in Romania chose to work with BT Asset Management in 2024.
  • BT Small funded almost 10,000 customers in 2024. The company reached more than 22,000 customers, with funding of RON 1.27 billion, which is +27% compared to 2023.
  • BT Pensions reached RON290.5m in assets under management, +33% from 2023.
  • BT Direct maintained its growth trend and reached 260,000 customers and total assets of over RON 1.1 billion at the end of 2024, +20% compared to 2023.
  • Code Crafters expanded its ability to deliver financial solutions by diversifying technologies, expanding its project portfolio and team. It also achieved ISO 27001:2022 international certification for its Information Security Management System.
