Because of the heat wave and the thermal discomfort recorded in the last period, Avi Compact reports for the month of June a fivefold increase in sales for the air conditioning systems, compared to the same period of the last year. The estimated average growth rate of sales for air conditioning equipment in the European market is 6%.

The residential sector contributed the highest demand for air conditioning systems in June, both by replacing old, underperforming air conditioners and by equipping new homes.

"The waiting time equipment installation is 10-14 days. Avi Compact maintained the prices for air conditioners at the last year's levels, slightly increasing the cost of labor because of the elimination of tax facilities in construction and the increase of the inflation rates. Most users prefer the installation of an air conditioner in each room, 75% of buyers choosing the 9,000 BTU units. Top brands are preferred, with devices in the mid-range price range and WIFI", explains Marian Pandele, Executive Director of Avi Compact.

The highest sales for air conditioners in the residential segment were recorded in Bucharest, Ilfov and Constanța.

The corporate sector contributed with 60% to Avi Compact turnover in the first half of 2024 while the demand was constant in the first half of the year. Most of the installed devices are equipped with remote monitoring systems, so that the number of on-site interventions has decreased by 50%.

"Protecting the environment and reducing CO2 emissions is part of Avi Compact activity standards. Starting with this year, we offer complete solutions for removing the old installations, recycling equipment, recovering and recycling old freon and installing new equipment. In the first half of this year we have recycled over 20,000 kg of equipment, and we estimate doubling the amount by the end of the year," says Florin Rǎdulescu, Founder of Avi Compact.

Avi Compact is currently running a first-of-its-kind project, with Daikin equipment, which involves the replacement of VRV systems for a P+14 office building in Sector 1 of the Capital. The old freon, approximately 3000 kg, is filtered and recovered, in order to be sent to the factory, then tested and reintroduced into the manufacturing process. Globally, 8.5% of climate problems are because of unrecovered hydrofluorocarbons used for air conditioning systems in commercial and industrial areas.

Other Avi Compact corporate clients are the Sanador headquarters, a tourist complex opened this summer at Gura Portiței, the George Fischer Casting Solutions factory in Pitesti, the CTP storage spaces, several office buildings in Bucharest and Cluj.

Avi Compact estimates a 10% increase in turnover for this year. Avi Compact is the largest Daikin distributor in Romania.

The air conditioning market in Romania is estimated in 2024 at over €90 million, with approximately 250,000 new units sold.
