FlixBus coach tickets available at 11,000 SelfPay Payment Stations in Romania

FlixBus, the travel-tech company operating the largest intercity coach network in Europe, Own.Solutions and SelfPay announce a strategic partnership that will provide travelers with a new alternative for paying for coach travel in Romania. With the new partnership, coach tickets will be available for purchase from over 11,000 SelfPay Payment Stations in Romania. SelfPay terminals are located throughout the country and the service is available for all routes operated by FlixBus in Romania.

SelfPay, the local market leader in the operation of self-service payment stations, and Own.Solutions, will provide a digital ticket booking experience through the extensive nationwide network of SelfPay payment terminals.

In 2023, through SelfPay Pay Stations and the SelfPay Now mobile app, payments totaling more than one billion euros were processed, reflecting the confidence of the high number of users. Currently, SelfPay Pay Stations provide consumers with more than 300 payment services, from reloading prepaid phone cards to paying bills, taxes, loan installments, tolls or events.

The most recent service launched by the company in the field of urban transportation offers the possibility of reloading STB cards used in the Bucharest public transportation network with cash at any of those 11,000 SelfPay Payment Stations in the country.

FlixBus serves over 100 cities in Romania and offers direct rides to 15 countries in Europe

Romanian passengers have at their disposal direct FlixBus rides departing from more than 100 cities in Romania, covering large cities such as Sibiu, Brasov or Bucharest, as well as smaller cities where the need for mobility and connectivity is essential. Globally, more than 40% of the FlixBus network is made up of small and medium-sized cities with less than 20,000 inhabitants.

In a context where 36.7% of Romanian cities have less than 10,000 inhabitants and 35.1% have between 10,000 and 25,000 inhabitants, according to data provided by the National Institute of Statistics, ensuring mobility and connecting small and medium-sized cities to the European network are priorities for all three companies.

For the summer period, Flix operates daily rides to popular vacation destinations in Bulgaria and Greece such as Athens, Thessaloniki, Varna, Albena, Sunny Beach, Balchik, Golden Sands, Beala and Obzor. Those planning a city break will also be able to travel with FlixBus coaches to cities such as Sofia, Budapest, Vienna, Prague, Budapest, Vienna, Prague or Istanbul.

Ticket prices for Bulgarian coastal destinations start from RON 54.90 for the Bucharest - Golden Sands and Balchik route, while tickets to Thessaloniki start from RON 91.99. For the Timisoara - Prague or Cluj-Napoca - Budapest routes coach ticket prices start at RON 252.99 and RON 138.99 respectively.

In recent years, FlixBus has created the largest intercity coach network in Europe and has expanded globally to 43 countries. The company has been present on the Romanian market since 2017 and offers direct international rides from over 100 cities in Romania to 15 countries in Europe. Last year, 81 million passengers traveled to more than 5,600 destinations in 43 countries using FlixBus, FlixTrain, Greyhound and Kamil Koç services.
