Dacia Logan, the flagship car of the Romanian automaker, now owned by Renault, has turned 20. Two decades of history for the "5,000 euro car" launched in 2004, which has succeeded in bringing the Romanian industry back to international markets, especially in Europe, where the Sandero and Duster models have been very well received by the public.
Dacia is celebrating two decades since the sales debut of the first generation Logan with the launch of a limited anniversary series of its B-segment sedan.
Entitled "Logan XX", the fully-equipped limited edition is highlighted by a series of graphic elements with the number 20 in Roman numerals as the milk motif, the stylized shape of which evokes the repetitive pattern of Constantin Brancusi's "Infinity Column". This pattern is present on the exterior in the form of stickers on the underside of the rear doors, on the rearview mirror housings and at the base of the boot lid.
The 20th anniversary theme is also present inside, on the center console and front door sills, as well as in the form of a decorative element on the front seat backs.
Randia alloy wheels, black rearview mirror housings and a shark-tail antenna complete the exterior features of the new limited edition.
Customers will have a choice of three body colors: Arctic White, Cedar Green and Schist Grey. In addition, the option of a two-tone painted body will be available, with a black roof, a first in the Dacia range.
The limited edition Logan XX series can be ordered from today through Dacia's network of authorized dealers nationwide. The two engine versions available are the TCe 90 (priced at €16,000 including VAT) and the Eco-G 100 (€16,300 including VAT). First deliveries are expected in mid-October.
Logan - a success story.
Twenty years ago, in early September 2004, deliveries of the first generation Logan began in Romania. Within less than four months, by the end of 2004, more than 20,000 copies had been sold, far exceeding the brand's most optimistic sales estimates. From 2005 onwards, Logan became the best-selling model on the Romanian market, a title it has held consistently, year after year, throughout the three generations that have followed until today.
Over two decades, Logan has been produced in more than 1,280,000 units, of which almost 585,000 have been sold in Romania and 695,000 on foreign markets.
Initially launched as a sedan with two gasoline engines, 75 hp and 90 hp, Logan was also available in other body versions: Estate (Logan MCV I and II), Light Van (Logan VAN) and Pick-Up. Total sales are approaching 2 million units, of which 1.28 million sedan versions alone.
The first generation Logan won the AutoBest 2005 award, the list of trophies being completed over the years by the title "Car of the Year 2013 in Romania", won by the second generation of the model and the "Car of the Year 2021 in Romania", awarded by the jury of the Romanian Automobile Press Association (APAR) to the new Logan, on the market from fall 2020.
