Diehl Aviation expands with new production site in Romania

Diehl Aviation, the German system supplier of aircraft system and cabin solutions, is set to broaden its global footprint by establishing a new production site in Romania.

The new facility will focus on manufacturing products and components for passenger aircraft.

The company said that Romania's strategic location between Eastern and Western Europe was a key factor in the decision, offering excellent access to suppliers and a skilled talent pool.

This expansion will not only increase production capacity but also optimize Diehl Aviation's cost structure, enhancing its competitiveness and reinforcing its market position. By diversifying its production footprint in Romania, the company aims to enhance supply chain resilience and operational flexibility, ensuring sustained growth in the global aviation market.

While production capacity will be expanded in Romania, the development, industrialization, and maturation of products will remain at Diehl Aviation's German sites.

“As aircraft production rates increase, we are committed to providing our customers with the highest-quality products at competitive costs,” stated Jörg Schuler, CEO of Diehl Aviation.

The company anticipates breaking ground on the new facility in 2025.

Diehl Aviation employs over 5,200 people, serving major aircraft manufacturers like Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, and Embraer, as well as military partners, eVTOL developers, and global commercial and business aircraft operators and airlines.
