The Environment Fund Administration (AFM) has announced that 26 recycling plants are set to be built in Romania, backed by funding of RON 674.75 million (€135 million) from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).

These plants are scheduled to become operational by mid-2026.

“The increasing demand from industry and the clear need for investment in this sector demonstrate that Romania has significant potential in the circular economy. We will continue to support this strategic direction and are considering expanding the programme to support even more economic operators in the future,” said AFM President Florin Bănică.

The recycling facilities will help Romania meet the recycling targets set out by the circular economy legislative package.
