Nawaf Salameh, the Founder and President of Alexandrion Group, which specializes in spirits and wine production, died on Sunday at 59 years old, his family said in a statement.
Born in Marmarita, Syria, in 1965, Salameh moved to Romania in the 1980s, initially pursuing medical studies, while setting up his first company five years after the fall of communism.
"In 1994, I laid the foundations of a business with the enthusiasm, energy, and vision of a young entrepreneur at the beginning of his journey, who wanted to conquer the world," Salameh said, according to a 2022 press release.
Three years ago, Alexandrion Group was reconfigured as a family office led by Salameh, with two of his three sons appointed as Vice Presidents.
The group records a consolidated turnover of over €200 million and has a global presence through a network of hubs.
The group's shared services are coordinated by the family office. These include finance and control, IT and digital transformation, supply chain, legal, compliance and regulatory, marketing and branding, international corporate affairs, HR, and trade marketing. The family office also manages the group's operations in distilleries and factories, distribution and trading, hotels and stores, energy, and real estate.
Salameh is survived by his wife and three sons.
