Courier company Sameday has announced the operational launch of its new logistics centre in Ghimbav, Brașov county, following an investment of more than €4.2 million.
The purpose-built centre, designed to enhance the courier's sorting capabilities, spans 6,800 sqm on a 10,000 sqm site.
Equipped with technology for sorting small and medium-sized parcels, the hub will serve twenty-two local Sameday agencies, primarily in the eastern part of the country. This development follows a significant increase in delivery volumes in these counties, which rose by over 28% at the end of last year compared to 2023.
Lucian Băltaru, CEO of Sameday Group, stated, "The need for efficient and reliable delivery services is growing as customers become increasingly mindful of their spending and how they manage their businesses and shopping. Whether it's e-commerce or person-to-person deliveries, our customers need predictability, control and a hassle-free delivery experience."
The new centre is designed to integrate both automated and manual sorting systems to ensure smooth parcel processing. Its automated sorter can handle up to 7,000 parcels weighing up to 20 kg per hour, while a manual line is in place for atypical parcels, processing up to 1,200 parcels per hour.
The automated systems classify each parcel by destination and priority, boosting the centre's overall productivity. On its busiest day, the hub has processed 49,000 parcels.
