Novartis Romania received the international Top Employer certification, a title awarded by the Top Employers Institute, a global authority in recognizing and evaluating excellence in human resources strategies and practices. The Institute's certification program involves an extensive process that includes a comprehensive assessment of organizational performance regarding best practices in human resources. This is the first year Novartis Romania has participated in this certification process, joining the other 18 countries in the group that already hold this title.

The evaluation criteria for obtaining the certification covered: the alignment of the human resources strategy with the company's business strategy and the leadership model, projects targeting organizational development, the implementation of digital technologies in human resources and the work environment, building the employer brand , talent attraction and their integration process, performance management, career and professional development process, wellbeing projects, as well as supporting the organization's purpose and values, ethics and integrity, diversity, equity, inclusion and sustainability.

With over 550 employees in Romania, Novartis promotes a people-oriented culture, where each team member can evolve and have a significant impact within the organization and in society.

Locally, Novartis markets more than 60 original medicines, and the plant in Targu Mures produces over 4 million boxes of innovative medicines. In just one year, almost 1.5 million patients in our country have been treated with the drugs that Novartis develops, leading to over 10,000 years of healthy life gained (QALY).

"This recognition honors us as it underlines our commitment to high standards in human resources management as well as our mission to foster a work environment that encourages talent and innovation. We are pleased that our efforts made in this regard have not only strengthened professional ties but have also generated a sense of belonging that shapes the identity of the Novartis Romania team. In this way, we continue to innovate and redefine the way we understand medicine so that we contribute to a healthier and more prosperous society," says Marcelo Rainer, Country President and General Manager of Novartis Romania.

In 2023, Novartis invested $8.6 billion globally in research and development, being one of the global leaders regardless of the industry. With its fundamental mission to reimagine medicine, Novartis aspires to become the world's most valued and trusted pharmaceutical company delivering innovative medicines that alleviate society's greatest medical burdens. As a result, last year Novartis completed its transformation into a company focused exclusively on innovative medicines, prioritizing four therapeutic areas: cardio-renal-metabolic, immunology, neuroscience and oncology.
