BT 2025 net profit up 16%

Business Forum
Banca Transilvania (BT) reported a consolidated net profit of RON 4.10 billion (€804.7 million) in 2025, representing a 15.96% increase compared to RON 3.53 billion (€692.8 million) in 2024.

This growth confirms a period of solid commercial evolution and heightened operational efficiency for the Romanian lender.

The bank's total assets climbed to RON 210.40 billion (€41.29 billion) by the end of December 2025, a 14.18% year-on-year increase. This expansion was largely driven by a surge in lending activity, with net loans and advances to customers reaching RON 99.69 billion (€19.56 billion), up 22.49% from the previous year.

Key highlights of the 2025 financial performance include a 18.99% growth in operating income, which reached RON 9.79 billion (€1.92 billion). This was supported by net interest income increasing 19.86% to RON 6.63 billion (€1.30 billion), while net fee and commission income rose 9.47% to reach RON 1.39 billion (€272.8 million).

Despite the growth in revenue, operating expenses increased by 16.41% to RON 4.34 billion (€851.8 million). A significant portion of this increase was attributed to the "Additional tax on banking income," which rose by 80.78% to RON 487.18 million (€95.62 million).

The bank successfully improved its cost-to-income ratio to 44.39%. Excluding the impact of the turnover tax, the ratio would have stood at 39.4%, reflecting a lean operational structure.

BT maintained a robust capital position with a Capital Adequacy Ratio of 22.7% and a Return on Equity (ROE) of 25.23%.

Customer deposits also saw healthy growth, rising 11.99% to RON 168.86 billion (€33.14 billion), resulting in a gross loan-to-deposit ratio of 62.6%.
