JT Grup Oil buys largest bunker tanker, Delta Oil

Business Forum
After the bankruptcy of many Russian-owned oil companies and in the current context of the Romanian energy market, characterized by a growing demand for fuel storage and distribution capacities, local companies are strengthening their position on the market by making significant investments to expand their infrastructure.

A remarkable example is the fuel distributor JT Grup Oil which, following a total investment of approximately 3 million euro, which involved both the purchase and modernization of the largest tanker ship which was previously used for bunkering operations in the port of Constanta by Gazprom, has expanded its logistics capacity by another 4,000 tons. The transformation of this barge into a floating terminal highlights the company's commitment to expand its operational capabilities and meet the growing needs of the energy market while becoming an international player.

Currently integrated into the operations of JT Grup Oil, the JT DANUBE TERMINAL will contribute to the efficiency of transportation and distribution of oil products for the western part of the country. Moreover, the acquisition of the floating terminal is a strategic asset that will strengthen Romania's energy independence and the expansion of the transportation and storage infrastructure for petroleum products in the region.

Bogdan-Florin Aldea, Chairman of the Board of Directors of JT Grup Oil says: "This acquisition is not only a success for our company, but also a significant contribution to the strengthening of Romania's position as a regional energy hub. JT Grup Oil reaffirms its position on the Romanian fuel distribution market and supports the stability and security of Romania's energy supply, in a European context marked by changes and new challenges in the energy sector. Once again, we have demonstrated to investors and partners that JT Grup Oil has the ability to adapt quickly to changes in the economic and geopolitical environment, ensuring the continuity and security of energy supply through an advanced logistics infrastructure, capable of meeting the growing needs of the market."

In the current international context, the JT DANUBE TERMINAL will allow Romania to diversify its sources and routes of supply, thus reducing its dependence on external resources. Currently, undergoing modernization, the floating terminal will benefit from modern sustainability measures, adapted to international environmental and safety requirements, ensuring efficient operation in line with environmental standards.

Currently, JT Grup Oil is in the process of finalizing the construction works of JT Terminal, the newest private liquid petroleum products terminal. During 2024, the company made investments of over RON 19 million, the money being allocated for the completion of the terminal works, and acquired 5 new tankers, thus continuing its strategy of expanding its operational capacities.
