The National Energy Dispatcher forecasts indicate that peak power consumption will reach approximately 8,000 MW during Monday and Tuesday evening peak hours. In response, Transelectrica has prepared phased operational protocols to maintain the balance between power generation and consumption.
The grid operator's decision comes amidst a broader expansion of Romania's generation capacity. Approximately 1,500 MW from new power plants and storage facilities has been commissioned since the start of the year, including 1,000 MW activated within the last month alone. An additional 1,000 MW of capacity from solar, wind, and energy storage investments is prepared for imminent grid connection to support supply security.
Operational teams remain on permanent standby to intervene should the grid's stability require further technical adjustments.
