The record compensation of €45,000 (over RON 220,000) was awarded to an insured who had a UNIQA travel insurance policy. During a visit to Los Angeles, USA, he was in urgent need of medical assistance and received an emergency consultation, comprehensive tests, medication and a computed tomography (CT) scan. Thanks to the policy purchased before leaving the country, the insured received a reduction in medical expenses and the costs were covered by UNIQA Assurances, through its assistance services partner, by direct settlement to the medical facility, without any financial involvement of the insured.

Over 1,300 claims in 2023
UNIQA's travel insurance policies have become increasingly popular among Romanians in recent years, thanks to the benefits offered and the ease of online purchase through the ANA digital consultant or the MyUNIQA digital platform.
In total, in 2023, UNIQA recorded more than 1,300 travel insurance claims, and the main risks indemnified were related to sickness, accidents and trip cancellations.
In 2024 between January and July, UNIQA recorded 564 damage claims in the travel insurance segment. The three largest claims paid out in the first seven months of the year amounted to RON 189,710 (€38,100), RON 93,219 (€18,750) and RON 48,873 (€9,800) respectively.
