As a first within its international expansion, Gránit Bank entered the Romanian market already at the end of last year. In terms of the nominal value of capital increases carried out through IPOs, the share issue of Gránit Bank was the largest transaction in Hungary in the past 25 years. Gránit Bank was the only bank in the region since 2016 to attract new capital from the money markets.
The bank's trilingual mobile application is available in the app stores also for customers living in Romania, who have opened many new accounts.
Gránit Bank offers a special promotional offer until 27 February 2025: customers living in Romania who download the mobile app and open a bank account can receive a total crediting of up to RON 400 if they meet the conditions specified. As part of a unique promotion on the Romanian market, Gránit Bank pays 3% in unconditional interest on non-term (RON) funds.
In the bank's advanced mobile banking app the financial institution's most popular services are available in Romanian, English, and Hungarian.
Customers living in Romania also have the opportunity to open an account instantly with a selfie, manage accounts in five different currencies, make instant currency exchanges at a discount, place term deposits with attractive interests – in RON, EUR, USD, and HUF –, apply for a bank card, and manage their everyday finances via the digital interface.
“Gránit Bank is the first Hungarian bank to launch its cross-border services in Romania, the EU's sixth most populous country, where retail customers have a high degree of digital affinity and where we can offer retail digital banking services broadly even without physical presence. We trust that the promptness and convenience we offer along with the innovative solutions will be just as attractive for Romanian customers as they are in Hungary,” Éva Hegedüs, President-CEO of Gránit Bank emphasised.
