The new service integrates road, maritime, air, rail, and multimodal transport to provide seamless end-to-end supply chain solutions. By streamlining supply chain management, DP World aims to reduce costs, accelerate delivery times, and provide greater transparency for customers.
A key component of the service is the emphasis on sustainability, using ‘groupage' to consolidate goods from different companies into single loads, minimising empty space and lowering environmental impact.
Kris Adams, Executive Vice President for Eastern Europe at DP World, said: “This end-to-end service will be transformative both for DP World and our customers in this region. By leveraging our extensive capabilities in road, maritime, air, rail and multimodal transport, we can now take goods all the way from factory floor to customer door – and do it faster, cheaper and more sustainably.”
The European Control Tower in Bucharest will coordinate all aspects of the end-to-end service, including groupage, first/last mile delivery, warehousing, customs brokerage and multimodal transport. Advanced digital platforms will be developed to enable real-time management, predictive analytics and seamless communication.
Bucharest was chosen for its strategic geographical location and DP World's strong presence in Romania. DP World already operates the Port of Constanța, a key gateway for shipments from Asia with access to the Danube, and the multimodal terminal in Aiud.
Initially, DP World will focus on serving Romania, Moldova, Serbia, Türkiye, and Bulgaria, where there is strong customer demand for integrated services, before expanding across Central and Western Europe.
DP World employs over 25,000 people in more than 250 locations across 30 countries in Europe.
