Business Forum
Mortgage loans worth €5.5 billion were granted in total at a national level in the first eight months of 2024, up 49% compared with the same period of last year, according to data from the National Bank of Romania (NBR).

The overall balance reached at the end of August, the last month with official data published, stood at approximately €21.6 billion, up 2.1% compared with the level registered in August 2023.

”The analyzed data certify once again that the purchase of a property, especially when it involves a mortgage loan, is correlated with maturity and stability, both professional and at a personal level. Young people are prone to investment mistakes and choices that can hinder their professional development and implicitly their life quality,” says Alexandru Rădulescu, Managing Partner of SVN Romania | Credit & Financial Solutions.

The average value of a mortgage loan granted in Romania in the first eight months of this year was of about €62.000 according to calculations made by SVN Cred Romania based on statistics published by NBR and market data from the banking sector.
