In 2023 the focus was on consolidating the payment segments in which the company already operated and on developing new services and technologies in the PayPoint portfolio. Thus, the card acceptance service for purchases made in PayPoint partner locations has seen considerable growth. The company's strategy aimed both at increasing the distribution of POS devices in the market and focusing on their performance, as the value of transactions exceeded the threshold of RON 550 million, an increase of 150% over the previous year. The maximum monthly transaction level was reached in December (the RON 80 million threshold was exceeded).
At the same time, more than 370,000 parcel delivery and pick-up transactions were recorded through the PayPoint Colet Expres service, with volumes increasing by more than 400%, compared to the previous year.
2023 brought diversification and expansion of the self-service terminal portfolio, with PayPoint introducing a new type of Android-based devices to the local market, complementing the existing Windows-based network. The number of transactions increased by more than 210% compared to the previous year and the value of transactions increased by more than 260%.
PayPoint's 24pay app is also approaching 2 million downloads, with the turnover from this line of business being ten times higher than the previous year. The over 13 million payments made in 2023 in the app were generated both by the established service segments (public transport, bill payment, top-up services) and by the newly launched ones (train tickets, road tax, RCA insurance).
Utku Ogrendil, CEO PayPoint Romania and 24pay, said, "The keywords for 2023 were development and consolidation. The push for quality results is part of our DNA and I am proud of the ambition and determination we have in pursuing our goals. A few years ago, PayPoint was known as the leading operator of bill payments and electronic top-up through retail outlets. Today, we have an impressive nationwide POS network; we have an app that is approaching 2 million downloads; we have a growing network of self-service terminals; we have a growing range of services that make any PayPoint location a "one stop shop". Investments to grow the business will continue, and we promise we will be there for consumers with relevant services, products, and technologies!"
The results released by the company refer to the year 2023, the figures are unaudited.
